End of the year!

Garden Girl Here,
It is already the end of the year, and of course my tomato plants waited until the end of the year until they were ready to be planted. Hopefully I can plant them somewhere soon, because these are my special exotic tomatoes. I will keep you posted on their growth and if I do plant them. I don't have very many other plants at the moment, but I am managing to keep my garden almost weed free. Among those few plants are cucumbers, radishes, dill, and bell peppers. Hope to have new produce soon!

Oh The Weeds...

Garden Girl here, I come back to my garden after not being there for a very long while, and as I look over my garden I realize it looked very much over grown. So with about three hours I got my garden nice and clean.....and maybe I kidnapped a few ladybugs along the way :) I harvested some swiss chard and radishes and some very humongous beets! I also planted some beloved tomatoes and peppers. Hopefully my peas will grow back again soon. The summer weather is coming fast so I need to get my summer crops in fast! Wish me luck!!!

New Transplants!

Garden Girl Here,
I have tried my hand at planting and raising my own transplants and have just finished planting them in bigger pots, and what a big success it was indeed! Almost all of them came up peppers and tomatoes alike and only about six didn't out of 95 so I was very happy to see that. Hopefully as they grow bigger and stronger soon they will be very ready to be put in my big garden and join the rest of my already growing plants! I will keep you updated on the status of my new plants and maybe even try and post a picture or too! Hopefully I will soon be up to my nose in tomatoes and peppers!

Garden Girl here,
The county fair is coming up fast and i need things to be ready for fair as well as for home made things after, so I am working on starting a new set of tomatoes, and peppers, and for fair I will be entering dill, beets, swiss chard, and hopefully radishes. I really hope that these new plantings come up and grow strong so keep your fingers crossed, and wait for the next update! (p.s. we won't put them in the garage with the crickets this time)

Jack Frost

Garden Girl Here,
Jack Frost struck again this year, killing off cucumbers,peppers, eggplants, and squash all throughout our 4-H garden! I had harvested some green tomatoes before the plant the grew on died that were still good, and I am now selling them to raise money for more exotic seeds! I decided to keep the tomato plants seeing as they hadn't died off completely, but we will see how they do. Hopefully everything else will do well now. I planted a couple more transplant peppers just because they had lived through the frost and all mine had died, it looked as though something had chewed on the and ate off all of their leaves! Wish me luck with the rest of the "winter" weather.

Planting.....Again

I planted in my 4-H garden again, and this time I did plant transplants. I planted peppers, and some peas. Basically i just tended the rest of my garden too I spent about an hour or so out there weeding seeing as my garden became over-run with weeds, and (I have my goat to thank for that, it was fair week and I was training her for show) when I left my garden was in very good shape, the bed was nice and high, I loosened the soil up( to avoid "sidewalk bed") and with the new sprouts of green everywhere it's really starting to come along.

I planted some cucumbers, and two different types of radishes to get some variety in there instead of just plain old radishes. I haven't planted any of the transplants that were there, because it was way too hot for them and I was worried they might burn in the heat. So far everything has germinated, so we'll see how they do after that!

Garden Girl here,
I tried replanting like I said and the seeds refused to sprout! We raised them up on big table, so the crickets would not eat them, but they wouldn't grow. I tried again, dumped out the used soil put new soil in, and planted. Watered daily and they still refused to grow. I think that since the temperature was so high down here when I replanted that maybe that's why they didn't grow. Anyways I am running out of about $100 dollars worth of exotic seeds, so what I am planning on doing is waiting until about November or January when its cool but not cold, and it has its warm days. I will order more seeds before then, and try it again. In my big 4-H garden I am planning on planting normal tomatoes, green beans, green onions, maybe some celery or bell peppers too. I'll keep you posted on what I plant after I plant and how everything is growing when I do.

I finished replanting today, so I hope everything will grow again. We now keep the plants on a table to prevent the crickets from eating them again. Wish me luck!

Gardening Girl here,
I just got my seeds in the mail a couple of days ago, and I planted them today. I planted a total of 128 seed in a transplanting sheet. I ordered all of the seeds, accept for one packet, that I planted today from burpee. I only planted today tomatoes, and peppers.

Hi, Garden Girl here!
